Pools and Aquatic Programs offers a range of water activities including Lap Swim, Independent Exercise, Family Swim, Community Swim, Swim Lessons, Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool and Adult Learn-to-Swim, Berkeley Barracudas Afterschool Swim Team, Berkeley Aquatic Masters, Senior Exercise, and the Teens Friday Night Splash Pool Party. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is also offered, and a lifeguard is on duty during all activities. All aquatic programs require pre-registration online, except Berkeley Barracudas try-outs, which are held on a drop-in basis and do not require pre-registration.

• Schedule: Tryouts for the Berkeley Barracudas Afterschool Swim Team are held every Friday from 3:00–4:00 pm, and this team runs year-round in 4-week sessions; American Red Cross Lifeguard Training courses are offered in February, March, Spring Break, Summer, September, and November; the Teens Friday Night Splash Pool Party is scheduled for May 22, 2026 at 6:00 pm.
• Price: Lap Swim, Independent Exercise, Family Swim, and Community Swim each cost $7 for residents and $8 for non-residents; American Red Cross Lifeguard Training costs $275; Swim Lessons range from $44–$88; Berkeley Barracudas Afterschool Swim Team costs $135 for residents and $162 for non-residents per 4-week session; Berkeley Aquatic Masters costs $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents; Senior Exercise costs $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents.
To participate in self-directed aquatic activities, each participant needs a daily admission ticket, 10-swim pass, or monthly pass, and a pass is required for all participants regardless of age. Senior Exercise and Berkeley Aquatic Masters require purchase of a “Premium” daily, 10-swim, or monthly pass. Family Swim allows little ones of any age to use the shallow pool, and Community Swim allows all ages to use the entire pool. The Berkeley Barracudas Afterschool Swim Team has four levels (Beginners, Advanced Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced), and prospective participants must complete a tryout to be eligible for registration. Berkeley Aquatic Masters welcomes swimmers of all abilities. Senior Exercise is for adults 55 and older. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training provides American Red Cross certifications required to work as a lifeguard, and participants who complete the course receive these certifications.
