School of Rock Berkeley Music Programs offers music lessons that combine group rehearsals, live performances, and interactive musical activities. Students take part in songwriting, lyrical workshops, and recording original songs while learning music theory, arrangement, chords, rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics. The program also includes playing classic rock songs and some of rock music's most iconic songs using simplified rock instruments and hand percussion.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and lesson options are available Monday–Friday afternoons and evenings, plus daytime and afternoon options on weekends.
School of Rock Berkeley Music Programs includes the Little Wing program for ages 4–5, the Rookies program for ages 6–7, Rock 101 for beginners ages 8–13, the Performance Program for ages 8–18, and a Songwriting program for ages 12 and over, along with an Adult Program for ages 18 and over. The program uses the patented School of Rock Method and a performance-based music education model that combines one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals, and students in the Performance Program and Songwriting program perform at local Berkeley music venues. School of Rock is the world's largest multi-location music school, with more than 65,000 students worldwide and over 385 locations in 16 different countries.
School of Rock was founded as a single school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1998. Its mission states that it is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education, with tens of thousands of musicians participating in its classes, workshops, camps, and performance programs every day.
