Sunsational Swim School was founded in 2009 by Sarah Sebe, a mom of four, lifelong swimmer, and recent college graduate at the time of founding. The stated mission is to make learning to swim convenient, fast, and fun, especially because drowning is described as the number one leading cause of death for children under five. The program operates as a mobile swim school with private, at-home swim lessons, using a model where instructors travel to a home or community pool and offering a choice of a home pool or a local community pool in the Berkeley area.
All Sunsational instructors are described as vetted, background-checked, CPR-certified, First Aid certified, experienced aquatics professionals, and insured. The program offers personalized one-on-one instruction, flexible scheduling around family availability, and a focus on essential water safety skills and the “Sunsational Swim Sequence,” including turning around, swimming back to the wall, and grabbing the wall after an unexpected fall. Swim instruction can start as early as 6 months, and there is a 12-lesson Learn-to-Swim Guarantee package (3 times per week) for ages 3 and up, with guidelines that Learn-to-Swim Guarantee lessons are completed at least 3 times per week in a pool heated to 82°F or warmer.
Sunsational Swim School is described as America’s largest mobile swim school and America’s largest private swim lesson marketplace, operating in 40 major metropolitan areas nationwide with over 2,000–3,000+ vetted instructors and over 100,000 swimmers since 2009. It is rated 4.9/5 stars from over 4282+ Sunsational Swim School reviews nationwide.
