• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; general information office hours Monday–Friday, 8:15 a.m.–5:15 p.m.
The program states that it teaches UC Berkeley’s youngest students in an environment that sparks curiosity and inspires a life-long love for inquiry, research, reflection, and action. It also states that it teaches families, students, and educators to see and unlock the unique potential of each child. The program conducts research on early childhood development, including the social, psychological, and intellectual capabilities of young children, as well as environmental conditions and educational processes that best encourage healthy development. It serves UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff, and is also open to members of the local community who are unaffiliated with UC Berkeley, and it describes itself as a model for nurturing children, their families, and a healthier society.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Moises Roman; Admissions Coordinator Marina Moreida; Office Administrator Eli Cruz; Training & Research Coordinator Luvy Vanegas-Grimaud; Site Directors Daiad Aljalili, Sasha Leveton, Laureana Medrano, and Shima Askari; and Center Director Boris Alvarado.
A parent testimonial states: “Our child is clearly loved, nurtured, and heard by his teachers, in ways that go above and beyond what we expected. We also see the children are challenged to grow and experience different things, while also having ample opportunities to develop their own personal style and interests.”
