About

Education and Outdoor Equity Programs (Eco-Tours, Moonlight Hikes, Generation Earth, and School Eco-Tour Field Trips) includes themed and guided tours, hikes, and Eco-tour field trips for schools. The program offers Eco-Tours, Moonlight Hikes, Generation Earth, and other teacher inquiries as part of its education and outdoor equity focus. These activities take place at TreePeople’s 45-acre headquarters, which includes nature trails, experiential education, cultural programming, and TreePeople’s Native Plant Nursery.

TreePeople was born in 1973 and has a 50-year history. TreePeople’s mission is to inspire, engage, and support people to take personal responsibility for the environment, making it safe, healthy, fun, and sustainable. TreePeople stewards more than 3,000 acres of land in the Santa Monica Mountains through TreePeople Land Trust, and its native-plant nursery is a strict Phytophthora-free site with stringent measures to ensure all pots and soils are sterilized. TreePeople partners with school communities and districts to advocate for, implement, and manage school greening projects, and has inspired, engaged, and supported more than 3 million people to take action for the environment by planting and caring for trees in forests, mountains, parks, and neighborhoods. TreePeople engages tens of thousands of students in parks and on campuses every year to teach environmental literacy and provide hands-on, actionable solutions to the climate crisis. The organization is led by Dr. Cassie Rauser, CEO of TreePeople.
