About

Avid4 Adventure Camps offers multi-sport adventure experiences that include mountain biking, biking, hiking, Stand Up Paddleboarding, kayaking, paddling, and rock climbing. Campers use top-of-the-line gear that is specifically sized for kids, and transportation is provided to and from recreation areas. Campers can bring their own bikes or use a bike from the camp’s fleet, which accommodates campers of any size.

Each one-week session runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with extended care available from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Campers are grouped by grade, with a progression in focus from comfort with new activities for 2nd–4th graders to teamwork and technical competence for 5th–7th graders. Programs evolve with campers from age 3 through their first summer job, and financial assistance is available.

Instructors are all 18 and older with serious safety and skills training and are described as having impeccable credentials. The leadership team includes Founder David Secunda, who is a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states, “We believe in the transformative power of the outdoors,” and emphasizes Leave No Trace principles along with a focus on building kids’ skills, confidence, grit, and determination.

Avid4 Adventure operates day camps, expedition camps, overnight camps, and Basecamp programs in California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. The organization is a Certified B Corp, its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, and it has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and offers an Avid4 Adventure Guarantee that includes a free next camp if its promises are not met.
