An exclusive shop powered by Fila is also part of the program.
The coaching staff focuses on junior development and is certified by the USPTA, PTR, and USTA, with a stated commitment to continuous education. The Tennis Director and founder, Pablo Alvarado, is a USPTA and PTR Elite Professional and has been recognized as PTR Argentina Pro of the Year (2014) and USTA NorCal ROG Pro of the Year (2019). Head Pro Stephanie Luk received the USPTA NorCal U30 Coach of the Year award in 2018, and Jr Leagues Specialist Kim Creci is part of the leadership team. The program was recognized by the USTA as the Best Local League in Northern California in 2019.
According to the program’s mission statement, Evolution Burlingame combines instruction in tactical and technical skills, supervised practice, athletic skill development, competitive skills training, and events and competitions, with an emphasis on junior development and on skills needed to play and compete. The mission statement also notes that players are taught to enjoy adversity and challenge, to understand what to focus on in match situations, and to use greater tactical awareness to control the competitive world around them, and that these skills are described as translating beyond the court. It states that the wellbeing and development of the child as a person is the number one priority, and that the program rewards and recognizes players for their behaviors rather than just for their skills.
Parent testimonials describe Evolution Burlingame as having highly skilled coaches for adults and kids and report that children have progressed in court skills, sportsmanship, and confidence, and enjoy tournaments and events. Parents also describe the program as transformational for their children’s tennis and confidence, and praise the way coaches break things down, work on strategy, and emphasize mastery in a confidence-building, teamwork-oriented, and nurturing way. The program notes that it is supported by top brands in the tennis industry through its partners.
