Calexico Recreation Department Youth Programs offers a range of activities including Basketball Clinics, a Basketball League, Inclusive Basketball Clinics, Guitar for Beginners, Zumba Gold, Senior Aerobics, Hula Dance, Fitness for the fun of it, Ballet I, Polynesian Dance, Yoga, Youth Volleyball Open Gym, an Easter Egg Hunt, and a Daddy Daughter Dance. The program uses a published Fall Winter 2025 Program Guide and also offers an ESPAÑOL Programa Otoño 2025, along with a program brochure.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Activities include weekend Basketball Clinics, weekday fitness and dance classes, and special events on specific dates and times.
The Easter Egg Hunt in 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and the Daddy Daughter Dance in 2026 is scheduled for the same day from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Basketball Clinics are held on Saturdays and Sundays, with Inclusive Basketball Clinics on March 15, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Basketball Clinics for ages 4–10 on March 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, and Basketball Clinics for ages 11–17 on March 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Guitar for Beginners is scheduled on March 16, 2026, from 7:00 am to 7:50 pm; Zumba Gold on March 16, 2026, from 8:10 am to 9:00 am; Senior Aerobics on March 16, 2026, from 9:10 am to 10:00 am; Hula Dance on March 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm; Fitness for the fun of it on March 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 4:50 pm; Ballet I on March 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 4:50 pm; Polynesian Dance on March 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 5:50 pm; Yoga at 5:00 pm on March 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 5:50 pm; and Youth Volleyball Open Gym on March 17, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm. Recreation Department office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with every other Friday closed, and weekends closed.
The program’s mission statement is to enhance the quality of life by providing safe, positive and accessible sports and recreational programs and facilities, strengthening arts, culture, history and creative expression as tools to empower residents, and collaborating with other organizations to promote community pride, health and growth. The leadership team includes Norma Gerardo, Recreation Manager; Debbie Flores, Program Coordinator; Jamie Ann Chew, Sports Coordinator; Eduardo Quintero, Cultural Arts Assistant; and Ariana Hernandez, Administrative Assistant.
