About

The Cardiff Sockers Competitive Soccer Program offers soccer training and educational soccer competition. The program includes training and competition with professional coaching geared to more motivated and skilled players who want a higher level of play.

For over 40 years, Cardiff Soccer League has stated a goal of providing children of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to develop technically, physically, mentally, and socially in a positive, supportive, and safe environment. The Cardiff Sockers mission is to provide a positive experience for all players, instilling a love of the game and developing and empowering players as people as well as athletes. The program is player-centered and focuses on the fundamentals of technical, tactical, physical, social, and mental game concepts, using progressive and collaborative trainings that address both the individual player and the team.

The program states a belief in teamwork, family values, friendships, and a spirit of mutual support on and off the field, and it promotes high standards of sportsmanship, fair play, good citizenship, and community involvement. Cardiff Soccer League is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that promotes and provides educational soccer competition for youth. The club and coaches are described as being connected in San Diego and around the world, with the stated mission of providing progressive, high-quality training in a fun environment and fostering a #lovethegame mentality at all levels.

The Cardiff Sockers competitive soccer program states that it aims for players to take skills learned in soccer off the pitch, including grace under intense pressure, respect for authority, leadership, humility in both winning and losing, and putting the needs of the group over individual glory. The program also states that it seeks to create team communities where players are seen for who they are, find mentoring from coaches who genuinely care, and have opportunities to establish and pursue pathways for their goals. Cardiff Soccer League (CSL) is partnered with the San Diego Sockers, who are 16-time Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) champions.

The leadership team includes Kraig Chiles as Executive Director, Chris Perry as President, Shad Butte as Vice President, Michelle Ducker as Registrar and Treasurer, Grace Ko as Secretary/Communications, Kelli Cornell as Recreational Coordinator, Mark O’Sullivan as Field Coordinator, and Lucas Beltran for Media. The program’s coaches are described as passionate and bringing local, regional, national, and international playing and coaching experience.
