About

Nike Baseball Camp Sacramento Athletic Center offers daily baseball instruction that includes hitting, fielding, throwing, base-running, warm-up and arm care routines, and drills and skills training. Campers take part in an all around skills camp with a daily emphasis on fundamental development, and players are grouped by age and ability with a 1:10 staff to camper ratio. During the summer session, campers receive a Nike Baseball Camp T-shirt and other prizes, and campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.

• Schedule: 4-day camp, July 27–30, 2026, Monday–Thursday, 9:00am–2:00pm
• Price: $359 for a 4-day full day camp (Includes all fees).

The camp is led by Camp Director Preston Vancil, the current pitching coach at Cosumnes River College, who played two seasons at American River College before transferring to Abilene Christian University on scholarship, leading the Wildcats to back-to-back regional appearances and earning All-Region and All-Conference awards. Preston played professional baseball for five years, including in the Seattle Mariners organization, then coached professionally for three seasons with the Southern Illinois Miners, earning three consecutive division championships and back-to-back pitcher of the year award winners, and later served as Pitching/Associate Head Baseball Coach for American River College for 11 seasons. He holds a degree in Business Management from Abilene Christian and a Master’s Degree in applied exercise science from Concordia University.

Instructor Karsten Vasquez played at Sacramento City College for two years, then played Division I baseball at the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff, where he played infield for two years and was named a team captain, and he is working toward a doctorate degree in Sports and Performance Psychology while coaching at SSC and giving lessons. Instructor Paul Von Zboray played two seasons at American River College in 2020 and 2021, then played at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa in 2022 and 2023, winning the Heart of America Athletic Northern Conference in back-to-back years, completed his first professional season as primarily a catcher and All Star, interned at Optimum Athletes working closely with hitters on mechanics and approach, and is involved in coaching at SSC and Hard 90 with catchers, pitchers, and hitters. Instructor Trevor Arnston pitched for three years at Sacramento City College, one year at University of Antelope Valley, and two years at William Jessup University where he is currently pitching, and he has three years of coaching experience at Sacramento Sport Center. The leadership team also includes Assistant Coach Tanner Cunha.

US Sports Camps does not provide equipment and is not responsible for lost or stolen articles or money. Suggested items to bring include a small gym bag or backpack, athletic clothing such as a t-shirt, shorts, and baseball pants, a warm-up jacket, hat, sneakers, baseball glove, baseball bat, helmet, and catcher’s gear if applicable, along with sunscreen, a water bottle, and a packed lunch and snacks. Lunch is not provided, so campers bring a snack or lunch each day.

Parent reviews from recent seasons note campers “had a blast” and wanted to return, mention that campers enjoyed “many different types of drills to improve his baseball skills,” and highlight “the enthusiasm of the coaches.” Other comments describe the coaches at SSC as “the best” and state that the SSC camp “was organized and directed in a fantastic way.”
