• Ages: 5–18 years old
Los Angeles Elite Basketball Club was established in 2013. The stated mission is to guide youth to be successful far beyond the game of basketball and to support them in becoming strong, responsible, and caring young adults. The club describes itself as impacting lives on and off the court and uses the hashtag #PLAYERSFIRST.
The leadership team includes President Russell Payne and Vice President Kevin Payne. Russell Payne grew up in Hawthorne, California, played four years of varsity basketball at El Segundo and Redondo Union, founded Los Angeles Elite in May 2013, and has 13 years of coaching experience. His experience includes serving as Head Varsity Coach at West Torrance High School from 2018 to 2020, earning 2020 Pioneer League Coach of the Year, and leading a 2020 Pioneer League Championship team, and he is currently an Assistant Varsity Coach at Harvard-Westlake High School. Kevin Payne was born and raised in Inglewood, California, was a four-year varsity player at La Verne Lutheran High School, is a two-time CIF and State Champion with four-year All-League honors, and has nine years of coaching experience from 2nd grade through high school. His background includes serving as Associate Head Coach at West Torrance High School from 2018 to 2020, joining Los Angeles Elite Basketball Program in 2013, and currently working as an Assistant Varsity Coach at St. Anthony High School.
For High School Club teams, the stated objective is to teach basketball and life skills to help athletes on and off the court, and participants are described as having a possible chance to gain exposure at the college level and to improve their standing at their high schools. Youth Club teams are described as an essential part of a young person’s development and emphasize teamwork, responsibility, accountability, discipline, and perseverance. At the Skill Academy, players are taught fundamentals and the stated correct way to play the game at both ends of the floor. Youth Camps focus on providing a fun and educational way to develop and improve basketball fundamentals and skills in a positive atmosphere, with coaching staff teaching techniques and mechanics with a motivative attitude through the love of the game.
The club states that it provides meaningful basketball experiences to all ages and levels of athletes in Southern California and that all are welcome to join the family. It notes that it is located in the South Bay area with local coaches and easy access contact with players and parents. The program also highlights credentials that include the 2020 Pioneer League Coach of the Year award and a 2020 Pioneer League Championship.
