• Ages: 5–18 years old
Region 1200 began its first season in the fall of 1997, added the U6 division in 1999, and started the U16 division in 2001. A formal U19 program developed in 2010 when the region joined an Area U19 program involving four other regions. After 10 years at Nellie Coffman Middle School, the region moved to a new soccer park on 30th Avenue, where ground was broken in September 2006 and a special dedication ceremony was held in June 2007 for the opening. The 2007/08 season was the 11th season and the first at the new park. The lowest reported player year was 2021 with 250 players following the pandemic, and the region reports having 750 players in 2025.
The current Regional Commissioner is Reggie Franklin. Past commissioners include Rick Sherwood for the first three years, Gillian Cross for the next four years, Dennis Keat until his death in March 2010, Diane Keat until her death in March 2013, Raul Dominguez until his resignation in early 2016, Orlando Lomeli from 2016 to 2020, and Greg Jackson as Interim Regional Commissioner following the pandemic.
AYSO Region 1200 states a mission of providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives. The organization is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE). AYSO Region 1200 has received the AYSO Platinum Region Award in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, and the AYSO Green Thumb Award for 2008 for the largest growth of any region in Section 1.
The region launched the first AYSO EPIC Program in Region 1200, which is described as providing a fun, inclusive, and supportive soccer experience for players with special needs. AYSO offers the Very Important Player (VIP) program for kids with special needs. In AYSO, each child who registers is guaranteed to play at least half of every game, and all players are placed on new or balanced teams each year based on each player’s skill level and the overall ability of the team. AYSO emphasizes philosophies such as “Everyone Plays” and “Balanced Teams,” places a strong emphasis on ethics and sportsmanship and the development of the whole child, and is supported by more than 250,000 volunteers. Field status updates are provided for each specific field used by the region.
A special dedication ceremony for the new soccer park on 30th Avenue was held jointly by the city and AYSO Region 1200 in June 2007. AYSO is a National Association of the United States Soccer Federation and has maintained relations with organizations such as the National Council of Youth Sports, Girls Scouts USA, the National Association for Sports and Physical Education, People to People, Optimists International, Police Athletic Leagues, the National Alliance for Youth Sports, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, YMCA, the United States Soccer Federation, and the Character Counts program, and works closely with 20 corporations that are part of the organization’s National Team of Sponsors.
