CRT Kids offers children’s theater and youth theater programs that include actor workshops, dance workshops, and Broadway Jr. shows. The program also provides private vocal, dance, and acting lessons, along with art oriented and music oriented classes. CRT Kids is the nonprofit youth theater division of California Regional Theater Alliance.
• Ages: 5–16 years old
CRT Kids began in 2012 with 13 students ages 8–12 and has grown to over 1,200 students each year. Ages are divided into separate classes for 5–6, 7–10, 11–13, and 14–16. Students come together to perform Broadway Jr. shows four times a year, and CRT Kids has performed over 300 shows. All programs are staffed by experienced, qualified instructors, and all programs are designed to give back to the community through education and performance. California Regional Theater states that it is dedicated to the creation of excellent theater and the education of students of all ages in the art of theater. The programs are described as award winning programs.
Fall Session Registration includes producing “HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON” The Musical with 5–6, 7–10, and 11–14 age performers. Bob and Mindy are described as organized, professional, kind, humble, and creative.
Parents have shared that “the shows are awesome” and that their children “just love coming every week,” and they thank CRT for creating “such a fun and positive community for kids,” according to Erica Weaton Blaschke. Another parent, Monique Everett Dey, says both of her kids “loved it,” describing a “positive, fun environment” with friendly and helpful staff and “fantastic” plays. Michelle Gustafson describes CRT as “a great theater company” with “fantastic” staff and entertaining shows, and recommends it to families with children ages 5 to 15.
