Both coaches hold National level coaching licenses through USSF and NSCAA, and both have over 15 years of coaching experience in nationally recognized youth clubs including Arsenal FC and the Honolulu Bulls. Shanna played professionally and Jacob played in college, and all academy coaches are described as experienced in coaching youth soccer with professionally licensed coaching.

The program states a mission of teaching advanced skills in a fun environment and building confidence in players of all levels. The academy states that it hopes to make the soccer ball a favorite toy among its players so that they play soccer for life, with a focus on making soccer fun and on individual skill development across groups. Registration is open to all ability levels, with evaluations for all players to place them in groupings and training tailored for each group based on age ranges and ability levels. The program notes that all levels of experience are accepted, player placement is according to ability, and the focus is on player development. The academy states that it includes a uniform, that no volunteering or volunteer coaching is required, and that registration for Summer Hurricanes is now open. Hurricanes Soccer Academy is described as serving Claremont and surrounding areas, with Jacob and Shanna now being Claremont residents with children in soccer and bringing their coaching experience to the local community.
