About
STEM Center USA Summer Camps offer summer STEM camps where students work on robotics, game design, coding, electronics, 3D printing, maker and DIY creations, soldering, and creative robotics. Camps follow a structured sample day that includes check in and connection time, camper warm up, a deep dive into STEM, snack breaks, project work time, and a wrap-up and show-and-tell period.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Sample camp day runs from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM
• Price: Register by Mon, 3/30 and save $60 on all summer camps with code “spring60”. All camp cancellations are subject to a non-refundable $30 processing fee.
STEM Center USA was founded in October 2011 and has offered programs throughout Southern California and worldwide since 2011, with Summer 2026 marking the fifteenth summer running summer camps. The organization offers hands-on, individualized K–12 STEM programs, including after-school and weekend educational programs, virtual camps and virtual programs, weekly classes at Robotics Creativity Centers, custom learning kits, professional development, and teacher trainings. Its mission is to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
Instructors are highly trained STEM instructors and a diverse, high-energy team trained in STEM content and guided-discovery pedagogy, including collegiate instructors from universities such as Harvey Mudd College, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, Harvard, UPenn, and Georgetown. Instructors are fingerprinted and background checked at the Department of Justice and FBI level and are CPR trained. Co-founders Melissa Jawaharlal and Lavanya Jawaharlal both hold Mechanical Engineering degrees, from USC and UC Berkeley respectively.
STEM Center USA supplies all necessary materials for camp, and families are asked to send a reusable water bottle and 2–3 snacks for snack breaks; for some Rancho Cucamonga computer-based camps, bringing a laptop is encouraged, though laptops are available for all students. The program features small groups at the Claremont STEM Center, with a maximum of 8 students for personalized instruction, and an open-flow 3000+ square foot creativity center in Rancho Cucamonga that encourages student collaboration. Camps at El Roble Intermediate include outdoor snack breaks and play, and at the Rancho Cucamonga STEM Center there is dedicated summary and showcase time at the end of each day from 11:50 AM to 12:00 PM.
STEM Center USA has been involved in community efforts such as supporting STEM educational opportunities in Claremont schools, sponsoring the Claremont Educational Foundation’s annual Family Coding Night event, becoming a vendor for 12+ homeschool charters, and offering federal programs and Migrant Education Program support. The organization has been featured on Season 7, Episode 6 of ABC’s Shark Tank, received offers from Chris Sacca and Lori Greiner, launched two successful Kickstarter campaigns for the Pi-Bot and The Technical Alphabet, and was awarded a $50,000 grant from Lending Tree’s inaugural small business contest. Melissa and Lavanya have spoken at TEDxCPP and were invited to the Official Residence of the Vice President, where they were recognized by former Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden.
Parent and student testimonials describe the staff and programs as engaging, educational, and inspiring creativity and curiosity in technology, and note long-term participation by some families over several years. Students mention enjoying building and programming, making robots move, play sounds, and change colors, and appreciating the creative projects and instructors. External partners describe STEM Center USA as a supporter of STEM educational opportunities and a resource for curriculum and teacher trainings.
