Apprenticeship Readiness Program

The Apprenticeship Readiness Program is a 10-week, tuition-free program that trains, educates, and prepares women for careers in the union building and construction trades. Enrollment starts with a two-day bootcamp, and instructors use the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) from North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU). The curriculum includes industry and trades awareness, tools and materials, construction math, diversity awareness, sexual harassment, CPR/First Aid, OSHA, and financial literacy.

About the provider

WINTER’s mission is to empower women through workforce development, create opportunities for growth, and foster a culture of excellence. Dr. Lynn Shaw is the Board Chair/Founder. Stella Choi is the Treasurer. Jim Reyes is the Secretary. Scottie Oliver and Miriam Scott Long are Board Members. The bootcamp includes learning the names and use of over 125 hand and power tools used in the building and construction trades, and it is fast-paced and immersive with an emphasis on safety, proper techniques, and teamwork.
