About
LA County Parks Youth and Family Programs offers activities such as family field trips, day camps, after-school programs, reading programs, toy loan programs, junior golf, junior lifeguard, junior ranger, and mommy and me programs. Children and teens can take part in painting, learning numbers and letters, singing, dancing, outdoor recreation activities, play areas, splash pads, sports, field trips, dances, volunteer work, homework assistance, mentoring, cheerleading classes, arts and crafts, music, baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, early literacy, math, movement, play, and educational field trips. The program also includes a Summer Lunch program, aquatic exercise, aqua aerobics, fitness classes for adults 18+ (water workouts), health screenings, grief counseling, Alzheimer’s education, caregiver support, and social services and case management.

• Schedule: Tiny Tots sessions run Monday–Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with additional weekday and Saturday time options for aquatic exercise and aqua aerobics.
• Price: Aquatic Exercise and Aqua Aerobics cost $35 per month; senior discount program rates are available for vehicle entry, annual transferable vehicle permits, boat permits, non-motorized watercraft, and botanic garden and Virginia Robinson Gardens admission.
Junior Programs in golf, lifeguard, and ranger sessions are taught by highly trained teachers. LA County Parks’ Tiny Tots program serves children ages 3–5 and requires that children be potty-independent. Our SPOT – Social Places and Opportunities for Teens is a free after-school program for teens ages 12–18 that operates in person Monday through Friday all year long. EveryBody Plays is a drop-in recreation program that anticipates serving over 20,000 youth across Los Angeles County and offers structured activities, field trips, Capers, ESTEAM, and more. Splash pads in the program are areas for water play that have no standing water, and parents must supervise their children at all times while using the splash pad. Children must be attended at all times in the Summer Lunch program, and families are asked to visit sites providing nutrition to complete a Nutrition Application with the on-site provider.
LA County Parks states a mission to serve as stewards of parklands, build healthy and resilient communities, and advance social equity and cohesion. Programs are supported by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and are offered at senior centers and parks in partnership with other County departments and co-located providers, which also offer additional services and resources for seniors. Senior Programs provide hot, nutritious meals at select locations through County-funded agencies. LA County Parks references the 2016 Countywide Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment and notes that it is celebrating 80 years of Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation, and it maintains 184 parks and operates golf courses throughout the county offering affordable public golf experiences for players.
