Pateadores Soccer Club states a mission to be a well-organized, forward-thinking, and networked club dedicated to the comprehensive development of boys and girls across all levels of programming, with a primary focus on growth on and off the field, character development, academic success, and soccer excellence. The mission describes an environment that fosters maturity, self-confidence, and personal responsibility, with values such as discipline, respect, and teamwork, and emphasizes a player pathway to the highest levels in the game through tools, resources, and competitive competitions. The club describes its coaching as top-tier, its facilities as state-of-the-art, and its coaching staff as dedicated to personalized attention, guidance, and mentorship that addresses technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills.
The club’s colors have been blue and yellow since its inception in 1987, and its crest was adopted in 1989 with a yellow outline surrounding a blue and white crest. The black swan was added to the crest in 1995 to symbolize a style of play described as aggressive, territorial, and graceful, and the swan’s segments represent the four original founding teams: U19, U17, U16, and U15. The initials RMO at the bottom of the first crest are a tribute to Robert M. O'Leary, the original Director and Head Coach of the Pateadores Soccer Club, and the current crest keeps the same design with seven stars added. The yellow star represents the 2011 United States Soccer Development Academy Championship, the blue stars represent three Cal South National Championships, and the white stars represent three US Club National Championships. The club notes that “Pateadores” is a Spanish slang term meaning “kickers.”
The club history notes that David Barry started as a manager of his son’s teams in 1998 and volunteered in the President role until 2018, and also lists Ben Forey as Irvine Boys Chapter Director and coach and Mike Stauber as Tournament Director for the Pats Jr Cup. The club describes itself as a leader in player development and effectiveness and as a leading edge organization on developing individuals for the future, with a heritage of preparing players for college, professional, and international soccer described as unmatched. It states that its culture and values provide a top quality club soccer experience for boys and girls in Southern California, and that Pateadores players will find a fun, challenging, nurturing environment to enjoy the game and the opportunity to become the best player they can.
Pats Prep is described as a junior academy league where the youngest Pats learn self-confidence and cognitive social skills with high energy play and minimal interruption, and it is coached by Pateadores club coaches, with each chapter running its own program tailored to its area. The Southern California Soccer League is described as the premier club competition in Southern California, with teams arranged by competitiveness into flights and participating in competitions sanctioned by US Club Soccer. Discovery/NPL is described as the top division in this league, with spring and fall seasons, college showcases, promotion and relegation from the Champions Division, and all teams playing in State Cup. The ECNL is described as featuring local, regional, and national events, with Girls ECNL teams described as the most competitive in their age group at the club, and the Boys and Girls ECNL Regional Leagues described as expanding ECNL quality and standards to more teams in the club, offering similar opportunities for elite training, competition, and exposure. The club notes that its colors have remained the same since 1987, that the crest elements reflect its history and achievements, and that its materials are marked © 2022 Pateadores Soccer Club.
