About
FAB 5 Basketball offers player development, practice, and competitive tournament experience through games every other weekend and Junior American Basketball league seasons. The program includes separate practice and game activities for 4th–6th graders and 7th–8th graders.
• Ages: 9–14 years old
• Schedule: Practices on Mondays and Wednesdays with year-round seasons divided into Spring (March–May), Summer (June–August), Fall (September–November), and Winter (December–February), and games every other weekend, usually on Saturdays and Sundays, with Saturday-only games during Junior American Basketball league seasons
Brian Beerbower is the founder and coach of FAB 5 and has been coaching basketball for 20 years, including youth recreation, club basketball since 2002, and high school teams at Edison and Estancia High Schools starting in 2007. FAB 5 was founded in 2011 and is described as the Premier Club Basketball Program in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, operating as a club basketball team located in Costa Mesa, CA. The program’s name stands for Family, Academics, Basketball, with an emphasis on teamwork as five players working together selflessly to achieve a common goal, and the club operates year-round but is divided into four seasons so players can take breaks and/or participate in other sports. Brian previously worked for the City of Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Department for 12 years. FAB 5 always welcomes new players and allows families to stop by and observe or try out a practice. Jason Simco, a coach at Corona Del Mar High School, describes FAB 5 as one of the most quality club basketball programs he has seen in 10 years of coaching high school basketball, noting that the staff teaches and emphasizes fundamentals, prepares players for success at the next level, and focuses on mental and physical preparation, hard work, and constant repetition.
