The program takes place in an inclusive, non-competitive, judgment-free studio that is open to all levels, where new dancers are always welcome, and it includes youth performance companies such as the OTE Dance Company for ages 5–18, as well as adult dance technique and strength building classes.
OTE Dance Studio’s mission is to foster a love of dance in a supportive, non-competitive environment, offering high-quality dance classes and training for all levels and experience, and building a well-rounded dance education through a variety of styles. The OTE Intensives feature esteemed guest master teachers and a collaborative choreography challenge, and many camps and intensives end with showcases for family and friends. For DANCE CAMP, BALLET INTENSIVE, K-POP INTENSIVE, and OTE INTENSIVES, dancers are asked to bring their own water, snacks, and lunch each day, and early drop off is available by arrangement.
OTE Dance Studio was founded by Kim Borgaro and Robert Gilliam, who are professional dancers and choreographers, and Kim Borgaro has stated, “I love pushing young dancers to become more than they ever dreamed they could be. I strive to encourage our dancers to become not only confident young artists with their own voices, but also confident young people.” Robert Gilliam also leads “Do U Dance” classes in the community, where hundreds of PVUSD school kids have learned basics of krumpin’ and breakin’ along with lessons about teamwork and self-discovery.
