Head coach Carissa Siu is a professional swimmer with over 10 years of experience teaching all age groups at various swim schools, including the YMCA and JCC, and she founded Elite Swim School. Elite Swim School is a family-run business with Carissa and her sister, Mable, both involved in coaching and operations, and Mabel offers Parent/Child, Water Introduction, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level classes, as well as private and semi-private lessons. The coaching team also includes Cody Lieu, who has been swimming for over 10 years and started learning from Carissa at age three before joining a swim team at five, along with JJ Huang, who has been swimming for about 5–6 years, and Derek Yang, who has 6 years of competitive swimming experience. The Elite Swim School mission states that it helps kids master the skills and strokes they need to progress to new levels of confidence, comfort, and ability in the water, and that it focuses on proper stroke techniques so people can enjoy the water, stay safe, and see swimming as a fun and healthy form of exercise. Carissa founded Elite Swim School to share her passion and enthusiasm for swimming with the community. Parents from Ryan’s family, Chloe’s family, Michelle’s family, and JJ’s family describe the teachers and coaches as knowledgeable, patient, professional, and supportive, and they report that their children have made notable progress in skills and stroke techniques, including freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.
