Elite Swim School is a family-run program led by founder and head coach Carissa Siu and her sister, Mable, who is described as a dedicated swim instructor. Carissa has been teaching swimming for over 10 years to children and adults of all ages and skill levels and is described as a professional swimmer with over 10 years of experience teaching all age groups at various swim schools, including the YMCA and JCC. Other staff include Cody Lieu, who has been swimming for over 10 years and began learning from Carissa at age three before joining a swim team at five, Derek Yang, who has 6 years of experience in competitive swimming, and JJ, who has been swimming for about 5–6 years. The school’s mission is to help kids master the skills and strokes they need to progress to new levels of confidence, comfort, and ability in the water, with a focus on proper stroke techniques so swimmers can enjoy the water, stay safe, and see swimming as a fun and healthy form of exercise. Elite Swim School notes that its swim instructors in San Francisco have a passion for working with children and look forward to every swim lesson they provide, with a specialization in nurturing younger swimmers who are keen to develop advanced skills and a goal of equipping swimmers with the skills needed to join a swim team. Carissa founded Elite Swim School to share her passion and enthusiasm for swimming with the community.
Families describe Elite Swim School’s teachers and coaches as fantastic, highly skilled, patient, professional, motivating, and supportive, and they report that classes are organized, well structured, and run smoothly. One family reports that within about a year of private and group lessons, their child learned freestyle, backstroke, and made significant progress on butterfly and breaststroke, with noticeable improvement in form and technique. Multiple families state that their children enjoy the lessons, are making quick or remarkable progress, and that the overall experience at Elite Swim School has been excellent.
