First Peoples Program

The First Peoples Program introduces participants to California’s indigenous peoples and the early inhabitants of the San Ramon Valley. During the program, participants hear creation accounts, view artifacts, pound acorns, and play traditional Indian games. MuseumSRV transforms into a gateway to the past each autumn for this program, which also welcomes older students and adult groups.

• Ages: 9–18 years old

The program aligns with the 4th-grade standard for history and social science. The museum’s mission is to connect the community to the history of the San Ramon Valley, provide context for that history, and collect and preserve important artifacts and stories that represent the history of the Valley. The museum recognizes and represents the growing diversity in the community and collects and preserves the stories of all residents for future generations. The museum brings enriching and educational programs to the community.
