Downey City Library Youth Programs

Downey City Library Youth Programs includes More Sign, Say & Play, Rimas y Ritmos, Hora de Cuentos for Library Littles, STEM Mobile Makers, Pokémon Club, and After-School STEM Workshop. Storytime sessions are offered once a week for different age groups: ages 3-5 in English on Tuesdays at 10:00am, ages 3-5 bilingual on Wednesdays at 10:00am, 18-36 months bilingual on Thursdays at 10:00am, and 0-18 months bilingual on Fridays at 10:00am. Pokémon Club meets on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month, and After-School STEM Workshop is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Programs

• More Sign, Say & Play — Intended for ages 0-3 years · Help little ones learn to communicate through sign language. Learn signs and songs through activities and play. Caregiver supervision required.
• Rimas y Ritmos — Intended for ages 0-5
• Hora de Cuentos for Library Littles (Babies-Bilingual) — Intended for ages 0-18 months · Storytime for babies with read-alouds, picture books, characters, rhythms, grooves, and baby playdate activities. Caregiver supervision required.
• STEM Mobile Makers-Fall Session (3rd-5th Grade) — This session is for students who will be in grades 3rd-5th; the program gives youth grades 3-8 opportunities to explore science and engineering.
• Hora de Cuentos for Library Littles (Toddlers-Bilingual)
• Lunch Bunch Cooking
• Family Bingo Night
• Creciendo Contigo: A Family Cafecito
• Chess Club
• Family Math: Workshop
• Pokémon Club (Ages 7-12) — Intended for ages 7-12 years · 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month
• After-School STEM Workshop — This session is for ages 8+ · 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm · Hosted by the Columbia Memorial Space Center. Explore science and engineering and build STEM projects. Parent/Guardian supervision required. Located in the Workshop. No registration required.
