YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles Youth Programs are part of a larger network that includes recreation, sports, afterschool programs, swim safety lessons, and summer camp experiences. Across these programs, 47,000+ youth participate in recreation, sports, and afterschool activities, and 9,000+ children and adults take part in swim safety lessons. The programs are connected to the Center for Community Well-Being, which focuses on health as shaped by access to food, safe spaces, learning, and human connection.

The mission at the Center for Community Well-Being states that health is shaped by access to food, safe spaces, learning, and the power of human connection, and these social determinants of health are at the core of its work. Across the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, 50,000+ members are engaged in work related to building a safer, healthier Los Angeles, and 2,000+ California YMCA youth participate in learning about citizenship and diplomacy. In addition, 23,000+ youth take part in sports and other programs, and more than $3 million in financial assistance is provided to make YMCA centers accessible.
