About
Art Creatures Fine Art is a teacher-led, structured art program where students work on drawing and painting using charcoal pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, acrylics, and oil painting. The program also includes fashion, garden, home, and graphic design projects, and uses photo references, art book tutorials, arranged still life set-ups, and sometimes ideas from Pinterest and other master artists as sources for student artwork. Students are expected to be serious about art, bring a portfolio of at least three independently created artworks to try a class, and be willing to draw and paint any subject assigned by the teacher.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
Art Creatures Fine Art first originated in Hollywood, CA in 2004 as a small home-based art studio and became a place of art learning and art making for 36 boys and girls in three years, continued in Los Angeles for nine years, then moved to other locations in Southern California before moving to El Dorado Hills, CA in 2018. The program is led by art instructor Angelina Rejino, whose education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Art and years of study in Fine Art with internationally acclaimed artists and art instructors. The Children's Art Program first teaches the basics of drawing and painting, covers basic techniques in several mediums, then adds more complex subject matter and additional techniques, including progressive steps in acrylics and oil painting, along with composition, creating the illusion of depth, tone drawing, and color theory. The program encourages students to use their imagination and discover their own techniques, and states that every child will develop a unique style during the course of study, while “But I don't want to draw this!” is described as unacceptable in the program. Students may bring home between one and five artworks per month depending on medium, help needed, and pace, and the program includes demonstrations, critiques, topic discussions, and art history facts or creative ideas. Art Creatures Fine Art states that artwork created in the program is for learning purposes only and is not for sale, and it holds an El Dorado County Business License No.: 2019-064774. The program states a goal of giving children the art skills and confidence they need to call themselves artists, while having a positive and fun learning atmosphere, and it strives to showcase student art at least once a year, with individual student art galleries posted online and on Facebook for family and friends to view.
