Musical Mayhem Productions offers theater education through rehearsal classes, workshop classes, and producing full-length, Broadway Jr., and Broadway Kids workshops and performances. The program also produces school musicals and organizes educational trips to Disneyland, Disney World, New York City, and the Junior Theatre Festival. Additional options include an Alumni Workshop Program and Field Trip Shows for local elementary students to experience live theater.
Musical Mayhem Productions opened its doors in June 2012 and is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit corporation that provides theater education for children and special needs adults through rehearsal and workshop classes. Its educational classes expand creativity and enhance confidence while conveying the importance of Theater Arts to the community through educational, fun, and entertaining performances. The organization has produced more than 200 full-length, Broadway Jr., and Broadway Kids workshops and performances, as well as over 60 school musicals, and it offers Master Academy and Apprentice Academy programs focused on acting, singing, and dance. It serves as a pilot program for Musical Theatre International (MTI) to produce new adaptations of Broadway shows for young performers before public release, including pilot productions such as The Drowsy Chaperone Jr., Cats Jr., 13 The Musical Jr., Shrek Kids, Hans Christian Anderson Jr., DreamWorks How to Train Your Dragon Jr., Disney's Dare To Dream Jr., Once Upon A Once More Time Jr., and Suffs Jr. Musical Mayhem Productions partners with local charter schools and home-school programs and offers after-school musicals at local elementary schools. Each year, Master Academy students create The Gift of Theatre Night, a charity event where donations are collected for local causes such as children’s books for UC Davis Children's Hospital and pet toys for the Elk Grove Animal Shelter. Its students have earned national recognition for their performances and were honored with the Outstanding Performance award for their edit of Children of Eden Jr. at the Junior Theatre Festival in Sacramento. Each season, the program transports sets, costumes, props, sound equipment, and technical gear to rehearsal spaces, performance venues, schools, and community events throughout the Sacramento region.
