About

Summer Horse Camp includes daily horseback riding and hands-on activities such as grooming, saddling, bridling, and learning the basics of riding. Campers learn about proper care and horsemanship, including health care for horses, physical fitness, proper nutrition, dental care, hoof care, transportation of horses, proper grooming, and tack care. Campers share a horse for the week, ride every day, and have opportunities for activities such as driving a horse hooked to a cart and taking a horse’s temperature, with demonstrations that match the daily topic, and they cool down at the end of each day with swimming in the pool.

Parents are invited on the last day of camp to watch campers showcase what they have learned. Summer Horse Camp takes place at Miller Equestrian Services, a horse training facility with a riding arena and pool that has been in operation since 1989 and is the home of Cougar Pass Recovery Ranch (Assisted Therapy). Miller Equestrian Services specializes in Morgan and American Saddlebreds and offers riding instruction in multiple disciplines to both serious show ring competitors and beginner recreational riders. The highly-trained staff and interns teach grooming, saddling, bridling, and the basics of riding, and safety is stressed, with the staff’s main priority described as ensuring a safe, positive riding experience in a fun, friendly environment.

Miller Equestrian Services also offers birthday parties that are 100% private in the riding arena, completely customized, and described as simple and stress-free. For birthday parties, parents provide pizza, snacks, or cake, while staff and interns teach children how to groom, saddle, and bridle their horse before riding; after riding, children can eat and then do final grooming of the horses and take group photos. Ann Miller is the contact person for scheduling horseback riding lessons, birthday parties, and tours.
