Fallbrook Gymnastics was founded in 1982 by Dean and Debbie Capelotti, who started Fallbrook Gymnastic Club that year. Dean Capelotti has been coach and co-owner since 1984, and Debbie Capelotti is co-owner of Fallbrook Gymnastics. The program states that it has always had a family atmosphere where parents are welcome to stay and watch their children, and that it specializes in working with students who are new to the sport of gymnastics. It also notes that most current coaches were or are on one or more of the program’s teams, and that multiple generations within the same family have participated, including the first grandchild of a former competitive team member joining the program.
The mission statement of Fallbrook Gymnastics says it is dedicated to nurturing young athletes in a fun, family-friendly environment and that it strives to offer a fun and friendly environment where students enjoy learning in a low-stress situation. The program lists focus areas of building strength, discipline, and leadership skills, and describes that being on a team builds camaraderie with team members and aids in the development of leadership and life skills. It notes that Artistic and Trampoline & Tumbling are individual sports, while Power TeamGym is a group sport, and that the Performance Team is a group performance that is Cirque-like and non-competitive. The program also states that it offers classes for all levels, from toddlers learning to walk through college-level students, and that its goals include having fun, learning self-discipline, strengthening the body, and becoming a confident leader.
Staff credentials include co-owner and coach Debbie Capelotti, who has a BA in Physical Education, is a former junior high Physical Education instructor, has been USA Gymnastics Safety Certified four times, and has over 20 years of gymnastics coaching experience.
