Christian Youth Theater (CYT) Sacramento

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) Sacramento offers classes in drama, voice, dance, and specialty theatrical workshops. It also offers summer camps with acting, singing, and dancing, and students in classes can audition and perform, or work behind the scenes, in a Broadway-style musical. CYT@school includes after-school performing arts training and ends with a showcase.

Programs

• Classes — 5-18 · Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions; once a week for two hours over eight to ten weeks; after-school classes · Includes drama, voice, dance, and specialty theatrical workshops; each session ends with a showcase.
• Shows — 8-18 · Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions · Students enrolled in classes can audition and perform, or work behind-the-scenes, in a Broadway-style musical.
• Camps — 5-18 · Summer; week-long camps · Hands-on theater experience with acting, singing, and dancing; every camper gets the opportunity to perform on stage.
• CYT@school — Low-cost after school program supporting performing arts training in public and private schools; sessions consist of eight 2 hour classes and end with a showcase.
• HYPE — high school youth · Yearlong; bi-weekly meetings · Leadership program for high school youth; participation is by application only.
• Decathlon Award — 16-18 · Recognizes exceptional CYT students who have met the listed requirements within the past five seasons.

About the provider

Christian Youth Theater was founded in 1980, and CYT Sacramento was co-founded in 2012. Its mission is to develop character and creativity through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting Jesus. Instructors are professionals who are qualified in teaching and/or performing, and teachers are qualified and experienced, trained in CYT methods of instruction, and background checked.

• Launch rate — $325 saves you $25 until May 31

Students missing more than two classes are in jeopardy of not performing at showcase and attendance may affect their role in a show if cast. No refunds or changes 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Prior to 2 weeks, a $25 cancellation fee per class is applied to refunds. Tuition must be paid in full to register online. Auditions are not required. Participation in HYPE is by application only. All staff and volunteers are background checked. The Safety Scene program is a CYT National initiative.
