MdMCS Art & Nature Summer Camps include Art & Nature Camp, Art & Ocean Camp, and Bookmaking Camp. Camp days include nature walks and hikes to the beach as part of the activities. Each camp session runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on its listed dates in July and early August.
• Ages: 5–10 years old
• Schedule: Three week-long camps in July and early August, each running 10:00am–3:00pm daily
Art & Nature Camp is scheduled for July 14–18 from 10:00am–3:00pm, Art & Ocean Camp is scheduled for July 21–25 from 10:00am–3:00pm, and Bookmaking Camp is scheduled for July 28–August 1 from 10:00am–3:00pm. A registration form must be completed before attendance, and registration gives permission for the child to take part in summer programs that may include walking on or off-campus and other physical activity, and releases the school and school-approved instructors from liability during these trips and all summer camp activities.
MdMCS Art & Nature Summer Camps are offered by Montessori del Mar Community School, an independent Montessori school on the North Coast that was founded in the spring of 2018. Teaching staff are trained in, and receive Montessori credentials or diplomas from, a Montessori teacher education program. The school’s mission is to create a purposeful, stimulating, and nurturing Montessori learning environment, with learning described as an expansive, child-centered, and collaborative undertaking rooted in Montessori values of social justice, humanitarianism, and environmental stewardship. MdMCS is extending its spirit of collaboration to the community as it develops opportunities for older students to serve and learn from community organizations and members. Montessori del Mar Community School participates in the Montessori Model UN, an international program that asks students to apply their learning to a global context, and offers a Nutrition Education Program that provides organic vegetarian lunch options for students and staff.
