Northcoast Children’s Services is a private non-profit corporation serving low income pregnant women and families with children from birth to kindergarten age. It operates federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start programs, California State Preschool, and General Child Care and Development Programs. Northcoast Children’s Services employs over 200 people and provides services to approximately 800 children and their families in 23 locations throughout Humboldt and Del Norte Counties each year. Its mission states that healthy families are crucial to development from the beginning of life through early childhood, and that it works in partnership with children, families, and communities to promote and advocate for healthy development. Northcoast Children’s Services has active partnerships with College of the Redwoods, local school districts, county and State human service agencies and commissions, medical providers, and local non-profit and private agencies.
