American Swim Academy has been teaching the Bay Area to swim since 1973 and was founded over 50 years ago. It is owned and operated by the Alberti family and has five indoor swim instruction facilities in Fremont, Newark, Livermore, Dublin, and Walnut Creek. The company states that safety is always the first and most important priority and that its philosophy is to treat members like family while instilling a lifelong love of the water. Its mission is to provide an exceptional program designed to teach students to swim through high-quality instruction that instills a life-long love of the water.
Classes are taught by certified instructors, with class ratios that include 2:1 for preschool and beginner levels, 3:1 for intermediate and advanced levels and advanced young adult and adult levels, 4:1 for Stroke Training, Stroke Training Young Adult, and AQUAbabies levels, and Elite level classes based on available space. The Fremont facility includes three family changing rooms, showers before each lesson session, and ample seating to view lessons, and is maintained and kept clean. A weekday special offer at the Fremont and Newark locations allows families to save $15 on swim classes before 1:40 PM. Testimonials from parents describe instructors and front desk staff by name, note the instructor-to-student ratios, mention the three family changing rooms and organized operations, and state that the facility is maintained and kept clean.
