Empire Montessori has been nurturing young learners since 2009 and is a well-established preschool chain with bilingual (English/Chinese) programs since 2009. The program offers mixed age groups in multi-age classrooms, a Bilingual Two's Program for ages 2–3 years old, and a Bilingual Preschool Program for ages 3–6 years old, with bilingual immersion incorporating both English and Mandarin in the two’s and preschool programs. Materials in the prepared environment cover practical living and independence skills, sensorial exploration, language, and math, and overall sounds in the classroom are of the children, with adult voices not predominating. Empire Montessori provides learning through movement via various exercise classes, fresh hot lunches daily for babies and children ready for solid food, and has four campuses across the South Bay and East Bay, including bilingual (English/Chinese) programs rooted in the Montessori philosophy and an infant program at the Downtown San Jose location for ages 12–24 months. Online classes are available for Preschool–Kindergarten for ages 2–6 years old, with six classes every weekday, 35 minutes each.
Empire Montessori states that its goal is to provide a high quality Montessori education and to help children develop essential knowledge, practical life skills, and strength of character during one of the most formative chapters of life. The mission states that the program nurtures curious minds to flourish into respectful, empathetic, and leading role models and aims to help every child grow into a confident, independent learner. According to the mission statement, through hands-on experiences, caring guidance, and a safe, supportive environment, children develop curiosity, self-discipline, and the confidence to thrive in school and in life, and the program focuses on the sequential steps of learning to help children achieve their full potentials. Empire Montessori Preschool states that it believes children are born with their own unique skills and are naturally interested in learning about the world around them, that the Montessori Method of Education teaches caring and respect for others as well as respect for oneself, and that the learning environment promotes self-directed learning and a trust-based relationship between educator and child.
Empire Montessori hosts many events, including Lunar New Year celebrations. Parent testimonials describe teachers such as Ms. Joan, Ms. Sue, Ms. Monica, Ms. Eva, Miss Shazia, Pan Pan, Manjeet, and Janet, and leadership including Miss Eva, May, and Carol as caring, attentive, and informative, and mention that staff encourage independence and partner with families in their children’s development. Families report long histories with the school, note bilingual Chinese and English circle time, and describe the grounds as beautiful and clean with strong security. Several parents state that their children have attended since around age two and describe positive experiences with their children’s learning and care over time.
