Bay Area Child Care Centers (BACC), which runs Summer Camp Programs, is a non-profit organization founded in 1991. BACC was founded by a retired Fremont Unified School District teacher and is led by the founder as Executive Director, a Business Manager, and a team of over 30 educators. Educators include individuals pursuing early childhood education credentials and professionals with certifications, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees in the field, and all staff complete background checks, fingerprinting, and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
All BACC locations are fully licensed by the state of California and follow state guidelines for health, safety, and quality childcare, with regular inspections by state licensing analysts. BACC is a designated community partner with Fremont Unified School District and participates in the Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) for eligible TK–5th grade students. BACC is an active member of the Child Development Training Consortium and First 5 Alameda County and has received multiple First 5 grants over the last 20 years.
The mission of BACC is to serve the community by providing meaningful experiences for children and adults that celebrate diversity, creativity, kindness, and wonder. The summer enrichment program emphasizes hands-on learning experiences through a variety of activities and focuses on the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development of each child. BACC follows the current Fremont Unified School District school calendar and offers holiday care during scheduled breaks, and summer camp may rotate between different BACC sites based on enrollment.
Parent feedback about BACC mentions caring staff, children being busy with crafts, games, and outdoor activities, and participation in outdoor sports, creating things with blocks, art materials, extra curricular science, and group sports. Parents also describe regular art, science, and dance classes, and note that classrooms are spacious and bright with access to a large playground.
