About
Good Dirt Pottery Studio – Youth Pottery Programs offers pottery classes that include wheel throwing, hand-building pottery techniques, and pottery painting. The program also offers parties, workshops, try nights, homeschool pottery classes, summer camps, and a winter camp class. Families are advised to come ready to get dirty during these activities.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Studio hours Monday–Friday 10:00am–6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am–2:00pm
Good Dirt Pottery Studio is described as a designer studio that is nice and light, extremely clean, and “adorable,” with very cute decor. The studio is co-owned by Jorden and Christy.
The program’s mission states that it believes every person is special and describes Good Dirt as a place to satisfy artistic curiosity, be oneself, try new things, and enjoy life. Its local non-profit organization equips foster and marginalized children with tools to live out God’s intended purpose for their lives, and it invests in a child’s creativity as a key reason for its existence. The studio also imports goods made by artisans who are supporting themselves in some of the hardest to reach places of the world.
Unique features include official homeschool pottery classes exclusively for kids, a kids membership, and plans for a fair trade shop and an artist’s gallery. One parent of a nine-year-old described a winter camp class as an amazing experience and noted that the instructor was kind, great with the kids, and that the child was eager to attend the next camp. Other visitors described private lessons as fabulous, Try Nights as fun and challenging, and repeatedly mentioned friendly, patient, and helpful instructors, with several saying they highly recommend the studio and are already planning to return.
