Cosumnes River Preserve Programs & Tours offers River Walk Bird Surveys, Tall Forest Bird Surveys, Ducks in Scopes, River Walk Audio Tour, Wetlands Walk Audio Tour, Driving Tour Audio Guide, Guided Paddle along the Cosumnes River, and several National Public Lands Day events. The program also includes guided walks, paddling outings, and nature programs.
Programs
- River Walk Bird Surveys — Second Saturday of every month; time varies but begins in the early morning
- Tall Forest Bird Surveys — Please contact guides; 45 minutes before sunrise
- Ducks in Scopes — 2nd & 4th Saturday: November–February, 11:00 AM–2:00 PM · Docents have a row of scopes set up, some set lower to accommodate children.
- River Walk Audio Tour — Self-guided · Learn about riparian habitats, seasonal changes, and wildlife along the River Walk Trail.
- Wetlands Walk Audio Tour — Self-guided · Explore the wetlands while hearing about waterfowl, native plants, and floodplain ecology.
- Driving Tour Audio Guide — Self-guided · Perfect for visitors exploring by car, highlighting key viewpoints across the Preserve.

About the provider
The Preserve was established in 1987. Its mission is to collaboratively protect, restore, and manage land and water to conserve Central Valley native plant and animal species, while also providing a diverse public with opportunities for environmental education, outdoor recreation, and scientific research. Leadership includes Amy Fesnock, Maddy Barton, Bill Beckett, Clinton Helms, Sara Sweet, and Alex Cabrera. Community involvement includes public outreach and environmental education, volunteering, attending events, donating, and guided experiences.
Day-use only. No pets except service animals. No camping.
