Glendale Bright Start

Glendale Bright Start offers preschool for children ages 2 to 6, with hands-on projects, early learning, art, and friendship. Children learn through teacher-guided learning and child-led exploration. The program also offers before and after school care for school-age children in a structured, caring setting, and reading with puppies, where trained therapy puppies visit with their handlers and children read aloud to them.

• General schedule: The preschool daily routine runs from 8:00-8:30 am arrival & free play, 9:00-9:30 am morning snack, 9:30-10:15 am circle time, 10:15-11:15 am learning through play, 11:15-11:45 am lunch, 11:45 am-2:30 pm nap/rest time, 2:30-4:30 pm afternoon snack and activities, and 4:30-5:00 pm free play & departures.

About the provider

Glendale Bright Start is guided by HighScope and has a 1:6 teacher-student ratio. The leadership team includes Site Director Margaret, Teacher Janine, Music Teacher Emma, Art Teacher Lala, and visiting educators. The program’s mission statement is, “A happy place to plan, play & grow.” It shares photos and updates through the newsletter and keeps regular communication with families. Healthy snacks are provided, and the preschool schedule includes arrival and free play, morning snack, circle time, learning through play, lunch, nap or rest time, afternoon snack and activities, and free play and departures.

• Reading with puppies — Trained therapy puppies visit with their handlers, and children read aloud to a calm, patient listener. Part of preschool and before & after school care.

Children need immunization records, a health form signed by a physician, and emergency contact information before starting. Enrollment is confirmed after required paperwork and fees are received. Preschool is for children 2-6 years. Before & after school care is for school-age children. Call to check ages accepted for before & after school care.
