The Art Room

The Art Room offers kids’ art classes for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. It also offers Comics and Cartooning for students in 3rd through 6th grade, plus adult watercolor workshops, a fall hand-building ceramics class, adult open studio ceramics, and glaze and kiln services.

• General schedule: Kids’ art classes are drop-off classes offered Monday through Friday in 12-week sessions; specific grade-based classes are listed for Kinder, 1st-3rd, 4th-6th, and 7th-12th. Comics and Cartooning is offered as a 6-week workshop in the Annex. Adult classes include watercolor workshops, a 5-week hand-building ceramics class, open studio ceramics, and glaze/kiln services.

About the provider

The Art Room has been in existence for over 38 years. Its leadership team includes TK Kuk, Jenna Macho, Monica Virgen, Blake Lemons, and Melanie Badger. The studio says it heads programming for The Art Room in Schools.

• Adult Watercolor Workshops — Adults · Thursday 6:30-8:30 pm · $65 · All levels welcome; one listed workshop is LA Polaroid Landscapes @ Paperback Brewing.
• Fall Hand-Building Ceramics Class — Adults · Tue nights 7:00-9:00 pm · $225 per session · Five-week class open to all adults; beginner-focused.
• Adult Open Studio Ceramics — Adults with pottery experience · Mon, Wed, Thu 7:00-9:00 pm · $175 per session · Studio time for potters; instructors are present to guide and answer questions, but not teach.
• Glaze + Kiln Services — During open studio · Glaze and firing services for ceramics.

Children age 3 cannot attend; the studio says children may come once enrolled in Kindergarten. The studio does not recommend siblings in different age classes attend together. Cancellations can be credited for up to one year or canceled for a $100 fee; cancellations within 14 days of class start date are credit only, minus a $100 fee. Private parties are available, including adults and holiday parties.
