About

The Art Room offers mixed-media art classes where students work with ceramics, watercolors, acrylic painting, chalk and oil pastels, collage, crayon, drawing, painting, clay hand-building, and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Older students can focus on portfolio building, including for magnet high school or college applications, and 7th grade and up students build their own curriculum with guidance from instructors. In 4th–6th grade classes, students choose their own subject matter and medium with individualized instruction.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Three 12-week mixed-media art sessions during the year; the Spring Art Session 2026 runs March 2–May 30 with Monday classes meeting 11 times and Tuesday–Saturday classes meeting 12 times, with no classes March 23–27 for Spring Break and no class Monday, May 25 where noted.
• Price: Monday session classes range from $330–$385; Tuesday–Friday session classes range from $360–$420; Saturday session classes range from $420–$480, depending on grade level and class length.

The Art Room runs after-school and summer art sessions and camps as a process-driven studio for K–12 artists in a variety of media. Private party rentals are available, including for adults and holiday parties.

The Art Room has been in existence for over 38 years and expanded from Lindsay Epstein’s Children’s Art Classes. TK Kuk teaches weekly K–12 art classes and camps and holds a BFA in Fine Art with a focus in painting and illustration from Art Center College of Design. Jenna Macho teaches weekly after-school classes and summer camps, heads The Art Room in Schools programming, holds a BA in Education and Studio Art from Santa Clara University, and a Masters and credential in Literacy Education from LMU, and is a fully credentialed teacher. Monica Virgen, who has a visual communications degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), helps with public school programming and has experience running visual arts, after-school programs, and camps with the Boys and Girls Club.

The Art Room’s mission states that it is a small art and ceramics studio where children of all age groups come after school and during the summer to learn about and create art, with an emphasis on exposure to many forms of art and understanding the process. The mission also notes that it is a space for kids to learn social norms and community, with an emphasis on nurturing creativity by allowing room for play and room to grow. The Art Room offers new public school programming and The Art Room in Schools programming.
