About
THE SKATESIDE Camps and Lessons offers skateboarding and roller skating through private lessons, group lessons, after school programs, and seasonal camps. Kids take part in skateboarding and roller skating day camps, as well as spring, summer, fall, and winter camps for both skateboarding and roller skating.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
Founded in 2015, THE SKATESIDE was created by husband-and-wife team Lemar and Elena. Lemar is a lifelong skateboarder with a deep connection to skate culture and a natural ability to mentor and inspire youth through movement. Elena is a dedicated mother of three with a strong passion for youth development. The program offers lessons, camps, and after-school programs for kids across LA and describes itself as Southern California’s leading youth skateboarding and roller skating program. Its mission is “More Kids Skating,” with a focus on creating safe, welcoming spaces where kids can be themselves, try something new, and build confidence while learning life skills like perseverance, self-awareness, and teamwork in age-appropriate ways. THE SKATESIDE describes its programs as safe, inclusive, and developmentally aligned for kids in TK through 10th grade, and as a trusted, welcoming community where kids grow on and off their wheels.
THE SKATESIDE also hosts Skateside Fest, a two-day event; the 4th Annual Skateside Fest is scheduled for May 30–31, 2026. Parents have shared feedback such as calling it “the coolest and greatest camp ever” with strong encouragement and positive role modeling, describing the staff as patient and encouraging with apprehensive beginners, and recommending THE SKATESIDE as “hands-down the best skateboard instruction school in all of Southern California.”
