The Riding Coach

The Riding Coach offers Riding Classes, One Lesson, and Four Lessons. The Riding Classes are group lessons, and the One Lesson is a single group session focused on hands-on learning and foundational riding skills. The Four Lessons are a group of lessons with progressive instruction and continued skill development each week.

Programs

• Riding Classes — Students must be tall enough to saddle their own horse (5’ minimum) and may not exceed 225 pounds. · Friday through Monday at 8:15 a.m.; 4 sessions within a 5-week period
• One Lesson — A single group session focused on hands-on learning and foundational riding skills.
• Four Lessons — Once a week; 4 classes within a 5-week period · A group of lessons to build strong riding fundamentals with progressive instruction and continued skill development each week.

At a glance

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• General schedule: Classes meet Friday thru Monday at 8:15 a.m. Each session is 45 minutes long. The 4 riding sessions must be completed within a 5-week period. There is no fixed start date; students may join any available class cycle.

About the provider

The Riding Coach has been teaching riders since 1987 and began in June of 1987. The leadership team is Gudrun Armanski and Carol Reynolds. The instructors taught horseback riding through the Physical Education Departments of CSULA and USC. Gudrun Armanski has a Master’s degree in Physical Education from California State University, Los Angeles. Carol Reynolds has taught horseback riding since 1985 and has a MFA in Art and a Masters in Art Education.

Our classes run continuously so you may join a class at any time. The classes are mixed. Students must be tall enough to saddle their own horse (5’ minimum) and may not exceed 225 pounds. We cancel class if it is raining really hard, if there is thunder and lightning at the barn, or if there are strong Santa Ana winds. It is required that students take the 4 classes within a 5 week period. If you would like to take a class four days in a row we are happy to accommodate you. It is not possible to have someone other than a current student take your place in a class.
