Goleta Valley Tennis Academy offers group lessons, private lessons, group classes, small group tennis instruction, and private tennis instruction. The program also offers school programs, an On-Site After School Program, Independent Physical Education Classes, camps, and clinics. Tennis rackets and balls are provided, and stringing services are available with a 24-hour turnaround.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and lesson options are available Monday through Friday from 7am–8pm and on weekends from 9am–3pm; Independent Physical Education Classes meet once per week for four consecutive weeks and run continuously throughout the year.
• Price: $35 for synthetic gut; $45 for premium string (multi-filament or polyester); $70 for natural gut; $30 for labor only when the client provides string.
Goleta Valley Tennis Academy was established by Peter Gerstenfeld in 1989. Peter Gerstenfeld is the Founder and Director of GVTA and is a USPTA Certified Teaching Professional. He is an instructor of Physical Activities at UCSB and served as Head Tennis Professional at Bacara Resort & Spa for 20 years. Assistant instructors are high school or college level team players and are trained by Mr. Gerstenfeld.
Regular groups at Goleta Valley Tennis Academy consist of 4–6 players, and enrollment in a group class automatically renews at the end of each four-week session unless otherwise notified. The program is professionally qualified to supervise high school and junior high school students for independent study for physical education, and 2.5 units of credit may be earned per quarter for independent study for physical education. The On-Site After School Program brings tennis to the students of local schools.
