About

South Coast Karate offers martial arts classes that include self-defense skills. The program presents martial arts as a “Way of Life” for its students.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes are held Mondays and Thursdays at the Goleta Valley Community Center location.

South Coast Karate teaches both kids and adults to explore their full potential with martial arts classes, developing mental focus, physical conditioning, and self-defense skills in a safe environment that promotes mutual respect and encourages each individual to do their best. The program includes a Tiny Tigers program for children 3–6 years old and a special “KID POWER” program for kids 5–13 years of age. South Coast Karate’s “Kid Power” is offered at many local elementary schools.

Chief Instructor and Founder Brian Jordan started his formal training with a group of Okinawan Goju-Ryu practitioners led by Sensei Dan Greenlaw and later trained under Shihan Russ Olson. Sensei Jordan started his formal training more than 35 years ago and developed the Tiny Tigers program in 2004. Chris Martin is the highest ranking student in the school with a second degree black belt and has more than 23 years of training under Sensei Brian Jordan since 1991. The leadership team includes Brian Jordan as Chief Instructor and Founder and Austin Elovitz as Lead Instructor.
