Coastside Aquatics Center Free Swim Lessons offers free swim lessons that teach swimming skills and beach and ocean safety. The program also includes swimming and exercise therapy and exercise therapy activities. This summer, kids learn for free from June 17 to July 25.

The Coastside Aquatics Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created by community members with a shared vision to promote safety, health, and wellness through aquatics for the San Mateo County Coast. It has a mission to promote water safety, health, and wellness through aquatics and plans to provide affordable swimming lessons for both children and adults and to teach aquatic safety. The organization emphasizes teaching swimming skills as essential life skills and teaching beach and ocean safety due to treacherous local waters, with a focus on water safety for all.
Last summer, with the support of county sheriff Christina Corpus, free swimming lessons were made available to youth. Aquatic Helpers are high school students who can receive community service credits, Swim Instructors must have strong aquatic skills and be at least 16 years old, and Life Guards must have a valid lifeguard certificate and be at least 16 years old. Donations are used to purchase swim lesson equipment such as kickboards, replace lifeguard chairs, and install directional signs to the swimming pool.
The Coastside Aquatics Center has a goal of extending the hours of operation of the swimming pool at Half Moon Bay High School to turn it into a true community pool, and sessions have been held at the outdated pool at Half Moon Bay High School, whose current pool is over 60 years old. Intended community benefits include swimming lessons, health and wellness, support for athletes, and recreational fun, and groups like the Boys and Girls Club, Maverick's Swimming Association, and other community organizations would benefit from a modern pool facility.
