The HUSD Early Learning mission states that infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children are in a warm, safe, inclusive environment and are encouraged to learn and grow in a developmentally appropriate way through play-based, experiential learning. The mission also states that current research confirms that children learn best when they experience a variety of developmentally appropriate learning activities that incorporate each child’s individual strengths, needs, and interests, and that children play, explore, investigate, are appropriately challenged, and have opportunities to be successful in the context of caring, supportive relationships. The leadership team includes Program Director Michelle Root; Assistant Program Director Mitchell Ha, EdD; Administrative Secretary Deborah Klimas; Family Engagement, Outreach, and Equity Specialist Maria Duenas; and Community Schools Specialist Yadira Torres.
