About
Sun Gallery Youth Art Programs and Camps offers Art Parties, Art Socials, Field Trips, School Visits, and Art Summer Camps where kids take part in hands-on art lessons and projects. During these programs, participants can tour the exhibition, learn art fundamentals and art principles, create original art projects and little masterpieces individually and in groups, and meet exhibiting artists with access to the gallery. Week-long summer camps for kids of all ages feature different themes and activity schedules, and are material inclusive.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Options include week-long summer camps, 2-hour Field Trips, 1.5-hour School Visits, and 2–3 hour Art Socials
• Price: $200 for a group of 10 people for Art Parties (every additional person $25 extra); $25 per person for Art Socials; $225 for a 2-hour Field Trip class (price will increase to $250 in Fall 2026; book illustrator availability +$40); $250 for a 1.5-hour School Visit class (price will increase to $300 in Fall 2026)
Since 1976, Sun Gallery has stimulated continuing community interest in the arts and expanded the image of the City of Hayward as a cultural center. Its mission is to provide visual art exhibitions and educational programs that reflect the diverse cultural populations of Hayward and its surrounding area. The gallery acts in partnership with local institutions of education and government, businesses and corporations, and community service organizations to develop visual arts programming, and it guarantees that gallery visits and Family Art Saturdays are always free. Sun Gallery arranges annual pro-environmental exhibits to help teach about the dangers of global warming, including its 12th Annual Exhibit on Climate Change and the Environment, “Our Shared Humanity; Love Thy Neighbor,” and it is hosting the 35th Annual Children’s Book Illustrator Exhibition.
