The Young Americans Performing Arts Workshops and Summer Camps offers performing arts workshops and performing arts summer camps that include 3-day signature workshops and 5-day performing arts summer camps. Students spend 3 days learning to work together, to respect each other’s strengths, and to discover their own potential through music and dance. The program is connected to performances and projects such as fairs, large public events, television shows, 2-hour concert tours, nightly performances at the foot of the Washington Monument, national 9-month tours of Oklahoma! and The Music Man, dinner theatre performances, national tours of West Side Story and To Richard Rodgers with Love, performances on the Mediterranean Sea, International Music Outreach Tours, an annual Christmas Show, documentaries, and recordings.

The Young Americans was founded in 1962 by Milton C. Anderson. It is a charitable organization with a mission dedicated to the promotion of understanding and goodwill among people throughout the world through music, dance, performance, academic education, and cultural interaction among Student Members and their audiences. The Young Americans’ Mission is to provide education, guidance and inspiration to young performers from any and all walks of life.
Student Members are accepted into the organization based on their talent and their interest in helping other students throughout America and the world to attain self-confidence, self-esteem, and respect for others through music, dance, and performance. The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts was established to offer college credit in music, dance, performance, and teaching methods to Young Americans student performers.
On average each year, The Young Americans visit over 200 communities and work with over 52,000 students from kindergarten to high school. Their youth programs have reached nearly all 50 states and countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Ukraine, Gibraltar, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, China, Japan, and South Africa. A portion of the ticket sales collected in their camps is donated to local organizations and school music programs that support music and arts programs throughout the year.
The Young Americans film received an Academy Award for a full-length documentary. Their Performing Arts Outreach programs are described as creating the largest music education movement in the world, and The Young Americans was the world’s first “show choir.” The Turn Up the Music campaign is a one million dollar commitment to the arts; in 2015, they gave $220,000 nationally, visited 236 communities, and worked with over 52,000 school-aged students, with total support to date equaling $650,000.
