Triton Morgan Horses Riding Lessons offers horseback riding lessons that include groundwork, under saddle riding, and riding lessons on gentle school horses. The program also offers driving lessons and, by referral only, birthday parties that involve time with the horses.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
Triton Morgan Horses provides private and semi-private lessons, with instruction available from beginner basics all the way to the show ring for beginner through advanced riders. All ages are accepted for lessons, and all lessons include both groundwork and under saddle riding. The horses used in the program are Morgan horses, which are described as bold and intelligent, curious and alert, with a calm and gentle disposition that is described as suitable for children as well as veteran or inexperienced riders. Triton Morgan Horses has bred over four hundred Morgan horses with the Triton prefix and has a ribbon-laden barn that displays years of accomplishments, and the program’s horses and facilities are described as beautiful.
Owner Susie Morgan is the trainer and instructor and has a lifetime of accomplishments in the equestrian world. She is a former judge and coach of the Stanford Western Riding Team and is acknowledged in Helen Crabtree’s revised edition of “Saddle Seat Equitation.” Susie continues to teach people of all ages about Morgan horses, horse care, and riding and driving, and she rehabilitates horses into good health and soundness. She was awarded Trainer of the Year in 2000 and received the Golden Reins Award in 2005 for her involvement and dedication as a judge, clinician, convention speaker, and panelist. Bob Morgan, an estate planning attorney and trustee with a practice in San Jose, California since 1978, and Susie married in 2003 and joined forces to create what Triton Morgan Horses is today, and Bob has been awarded Region VII Breeder of the Year.
The Triton Morgan Horse breeding program was founded in 1960 at Red Fox Stable in Gilroy, California, and over four hundred Morgan horses have been bred with the Triton prefix. The family purchased and operated the Green Mountain Stock Farm in Randolph, Vermont, and in June 2004 Triton Morgan Horses moved to a new facility in Hollister, California. Triton Morgan Horses is described as having a rich history dating back to the 1960s.
Parents describe Susie as a world-class trainer, breeder, and published Morgan horse expert who opens her home to everyone and builds relationships and trust with students and parents, with a barn full of ribbons showing years of accomplishments. One parent from Hollister shared that Susie agreed to teach their daughter when she was just shy of 3 years old and interested in Western riding, and that Susie’s focus on safety on and off the horse helped them feel comfortable.
