Wrangler Camp is a day camp option for the popular Ranch Camp program and has a maximum group size of 8 student wranglers per session. Lunch is provided each day. Wranglers receive hands-on education and training in all steps of animal care from feeding, to tacking, to grooming, and the experience emphasizes resilience, persistence, hard work, and continuous improvement, with a focus on leadership and confidence, teamwork and responsibility, physical and mental challenge, and community building. The program is described as more than just a horse camp and more than just a camp, and as a life-changing, transformational week.

All care is overseen by CHA Certified Staff. Skills taught will be comparable to those needed for a Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) Level 1 Rider Certification, and Bar SZ Ranch also offers weekly lessons for those who choose to continue working towards their CHA certifications after camp. The leadership team includes Tim and Michelle from Bar SZ Ranch, and the Borlands and their team of mentors have spent over 15 years creating an authentic, hands-on hospitality experience. The program’s mission statement is that true growth happens when people do life together, support one another, learn from each experience, and build a community based on trust and mutual respect.

Testimonials from past participants describe learning about ranch life and animals, including feeding animals, working horses, fixing fences, and interacting with guests, as well as balancing hard work with time to play. Other testimonials mention daily challenges such as fixing vehicles that broke down or fixing broken water pipes, and gaining skills along with the satisfaction of seeing that the work is valuable. One participant describes leading trail rides, teaching guests how to care for animals, and helping them learn how a ranch operates, and shares that these experiences supported growth in communication skills.
