AYSO Region 117 Youth Soccer Program

The AYSO Region 117 Youth Soccer Program offers youth soccer activities that include 5v5 player training and referee training. The program includes 5v5 sessions that are described as “BEST player training!” and provides opportunities for participants to take part in referee training that is described as free for parents and as a path some have used to become soccer coaches through their knowledge of the game as referees. The program is part of AYSO PLAY!, which is described as soccer needing only a ball, some space, and kids ready to play.

AYSO Region 117 is described as serving Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley, California, as part of youth soccer in Southern California. The region’s mission statement is “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” Region 117 has a recurring Charter Anniversary noted for February 15 in the years 2027 through 2033.

The program is part of AYSO, whose president, Michael Karon, received the Stack Leadership Award from Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering. AYSO has a partnership with BEEUP Snacks as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season. AYSO also has a partnership with Chicago Public Schools to enhance youth sports programming, and AYSO United and AYSO EPIC in Rancho Conejo are noted for EPIC players enjoying playing United players because they like a challenge. AYSO’s 2023 National Games are noted as returning to the Great Park in Orange County from July 24–30, and the AYSO National Annual General Meeting is described as an opportunity for delegates from Regions, Areas, and Sections to engage directly with the AYSO leadership team.
