Huntington Beach Junior Lifeguards

Huntington Beach Junior Lifeguards offers the Junior Lifeguard Program for boys and girls ages 9 through 17 as of July 1, 2026, and the Sand Crab Group for children ages 7 to 8. The Junior Lifeguard Program runs Monday through Thursday with morning sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and afternoon sessions from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays are optional for events, off-campus field trips, and surf days.

About the provider

The Junior Lifeguard program was established in 1964. It teaches youth in the community the experience of ocean swimming and its hazards while exposing them to an environment that teaches courtesy, respect, discipline, sound morals, and good sportsmanship. The program is world-renowned and has had students from Germany, France, England, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Utah, and Florida. It has also been involved with 11 international educational exchanges with New Zealand, Australia, and Germany.
